Crele Penedesenca are an autosexing dark brown egg laying breed. Many sources online say they are not cold hardy, but they do just fine in our Minnesota winters. Their combs are susceptible to frostbite like any single-combed breed, but we don’t consider that something that makes them not cold hardy.
We focus on egg color and maintaining clear autosexing traits. If you would like to find a breeder focusing on physical characteristics, please join the “Penedesenca Chickens of the United States” group on Facebook.
